The Airwide solution provides a central hub connecting third-party content providers and their services to Qtel's mobile network. All value added services using channels such as SMS, MMS, and WAP Push, are connected and controlled centrally, resulting in more efficient and reliable service performance. Having a central hub simplifies the provisioning and settlement process for mobile content and application providers.
To fight the growing trend of mobile spamming, Qtel has strengthened the protection for their subscribers. With technology from Airwide, Qtel controls the message flow centrally, which allows them to identify and block spammers more effectively. This is a similar approach that ISPs have taken to block email spam on the Internet.
Fahad Bin Jassim Al Thani, Qtel's Executive Director for Wireless Services, explains: "We are continuously implementing the latest technologies to provide our subscribers with the easiest and most comprehensive ways of getting the specific services that they want. The solution allows us to offer and manage large volumes of mobile services, while hiding the complex mobile network elements from third-party content providers." |
